How many of us really see, taste or enjoy anything? It takes a while to build a house, a business, a relationship and even a trek to reach the edge of a mountain!.
Many, reach their goal, but miss the journey!
I’m reminded of Anthony de Mello’s narration…
Buddha once pointed to a flower and asked each of his disciples to say
something about it.
One pronounced a lecture. Another a poem. Yet another a parable. Each outdid the other in depth and erudition.
The lord smiled and held his tongue. Only he had seen the flower!
Label Makers!
If I could only taste a bird
a flower,
a tree,
a human face!
But, alas, I have no time.
My energy is spent deciphering the label!
It’s worth stopping a while and tasting the world around!
